Reasons why I love you generator
You know exactly why you love them. It's finding the words that's hard. Tell us a few true things, like how you met or the habit you secretly adore, and we'll draft 10 reasons that sound like you, not a greeting card. Free, and no sign-up.
Your reasons will appear here
Every one is written from what you tell us, nothing made up.
How it works
- 1
Tell us who it's for
Their name, who they are to you, and whether you want it sweet, funny or a little cheeky.
- 2
Answer what you can
How you met, a habit you secretly love, an inside joke, a time they showed up for you. Even one answer helps.
- 3
Get ten reasons
Drafted from your answers, in your voice. Copy them into a card or message, or keep going and make the book.
How to write reasons why you love someone
- Be specific
- "You make me laugh" is nice. "You narrate the cat's thoughts in a posh voice" is a reason.
- Use their words
- Catchphrases, nicknames and the thing they always say on Sundays make it sound like the two of you.
- Mix big and small
- Put "you held my hand through the worst year" next to "you always leave me the crispy bits".
- Write how you talk
- Read it out loud. If it sounds like a greeting card, say it the way you'd say it to them.
What to do with your reasons
Ten reasons go a long way. A few ideas, from two minutes to a book they'll keep.
- A card
- Pick your three favourites for a birthday, anniversary or Valentine's card.
- A reasons jar
- Print them, fold them, and let them pull one out on the hard days.
- A message
- Send one a day for ten days. Nobody minds getting a reason with their morning coffee.
- A book
- Ten is a start. Answer a few more questions and we'll help you write all fifty, illustrated and printed.

Questions about the generator
Is the reasons generator really free?+
Yes. There's no sign-up and nothing to pay. You can make several lists a day, try a different tone, and keep the reasons you like.
How does it write reasons about someone it's never met?+
It only works from what you tell it. Our writing assistant, which uses AI, turns your answers into short reasons in plain words. The more specific your answers, the more the reasons sound like the two of you, so a real moment beats an adjective every time.
Can I use it for my mum, dad or best friend?+
Yes. Choose who they are to you and the wording changes to suit: grateful and warm for family, full of in-jokes for friends, romantic only for partners. There are ideas for every relationship in our reasons lists.
How many reasons should I write?+
Three is plenty for a card and ten makes a lovely letter. For a book, fifty gives you room for how you met, the everyday, the hard times and the future without repeating yourself. Our list of 100 reasons I love you has more ideas if you want to keep going.
Can I turn my reasons into a book?+
Yes. Press "Start the book with these" under your reasons and they come with you. We'll help you write fifty, one per page, with characters drawn to look like your people. The digital book is £9 ($12) and the hardcover £39 ($49).
